ST. PETER & ST. PAUL CHURCH AT EDENBRIDGE There has been a church on the current site of St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Edenbridge from as long ago as Saxon times. The impressive parish church that stands today dates from the time of the Norman invasion in the 11th Century, but has been substantially added to and altered over the following 900 years. Much restoration and repair work was carried out in the later 19th century i.e. the nave and the buttress there was rebuilt in 1875 and this was followed by a whole series of major repairs early this century. Amongst the interesting features of this church include a clock with only an hour hand, a fine font, Jacobean pulpit and some stunning stained glass windows. The chancel still has three fine late 13th century trefoiled windows on its north side. There is a magnificent Lynch Gate which was dedicated on the 11th November, 1909, and built entirely and voluntarily by the men of the congregation. Towards the west end of the north wall on the outside, a very small blocked round-headed window can be seen, which is early Norman. and is cut immediately to the west by an early 13th century lancet. In the early 14th century a new chancel arch was put in, and the south arcade was rebuilt. The main building material for the church is from local Tunbridge Wells sandstone and the earlier dressings are Reigate stone.

That was the historical intellectural part .... so now you have a few questions to answer to get values of A to E - to get the final coordinates to GZ:

A = Here there is an avenue of 'nobbly' trees ... Total nobbly trees on church side
B = Carry on up path - How many words on 5th line of clock plaque?
C = Lynch Gate: Letters in 7th word (Gate side)?
D = Lynch Gate: Other side - Letters in 2nd word?
E = Round the church: 3rd Number on rain hopper ?

N51.11.(A - C)(E + B - C)(D + E) ----E000. 0 C. (B * C - A)(B + C)(B - E)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE CO-ORDINATES HAVE BEEN UPDATED SINCE 29.05.2020

If anybody would like to expand this series, please do. I would like to ask that you let Sadexploration know first so that he can keep track of the church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats Page via the bookmark list.
