Geocache Description:

The Pathfinders are paratroopers who are inserted or dropped into place in order to set up and operate drop zones, pickup zones, and helicopter landing sites for airborne operations, air resupply operations, or other air operations in support of the ground unit commander. Pathfinders first appeared in World War II and continue to serve an important role in today's modern military, providing Commanders with the option of flexibly employing air assets.

Helicopters are talked onto the correct final approach and drop heading to have their paratroopers conduct a Voice Initiated Release System (VIRS) under the direction of the pathfinder.

Army operates three Pathfinder schools. The first is the United States Army Pathfinder School, at Fort Benning, Georgia, which serves as the Army proponent agency for Pathfinder operations and oversees the standardization of Army Pathfinder doctrine. The second is the Sabalauski Air Assault School of Fort Campbell, KY. The third is part of Fort Benning's Army National Guard Warrior Training Center, which also conducts Pre-Ranger and Air Assault classes. The courses taught at the WTC and Fort Campbell do not include parachute jumps.

During the course, potential pathfinders are tested on their ability to check various sling loads, determine suitability of possible landing and drop zones, along with executing a VIRS with fellow students.

Now you are probably wondering what all of this has to do with finding the cache.

People that are in a hurry to find this one may try to speed read thru the brief into to try and find hidden numbers or maybe double meanings. They may miss them and try reading this again and again till the light finally turns on.

Don’t worry though, all of the information that you need can be found on this cache page. You don’t have to try and research the pathfinder unless you are interested in our heritage.

Remember, the pathfinder has been around since WWII and were constantly being put into combat well forward of friendly lines.

Doing so will shed some light on these hooah Soldiers and maybe you can even find out why some of them choose to wear their badge with an intentional tilt to it. Or maybe find out why it’s the only standard specialty skill badge that is comprised of three different colors.

There is a field that is owned by Mr. Stringer near the cache’s actual location. The local US Army Rangers conduct Pathfinder and Airborne operations into that field.

First Friday of class about once a month if weather and aircraft availability permit, they can be seem flying around and floating to the ground. Its open to family and friends to come and watch during the operation.

Help will be given to solve this puzzle once the first one or maybe four cachers figure out the puzzle. A checker will be put on then as well.

Each and every geocacher has a little pathfinder in them as well. They put to use their skills determining a suitable location for a cache. Taking into consideration that their new cache meets the minimum 528 feet from another cache or in certain locations, .5 miles away from the other cache.

Early looking in the morning light or night could cause some problems locating the container. You may also find yourself entangled in some thorn bushes if you are not careful.

FTF will be? FANASFREAKS, SPANKY2000, and LITTLESTFREAK but of course. Great job at finding the torches.
