Ferronosaur Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoWyrm: We headed out with full intentions of replacing this one again, but after searching the area near the 'nest' we couldn't find a suitable new location, and moving the geocache further down the trail (and away from the nest) wouldn't be keeping with the spirit with which this one was placed. Additionally, the nest is beginning to slump and is looking less nest-like and more scrap pile. Thus, we sadly decided to archive this one. Perhaps down the road we can rethink the area and come up with another cache (or more0 to bring visitors to this nice little hidden trail. Thanks to all who visited, and our apologies to the recent visitors who had to leave without a smiley.

Geocache Description:

As we were out exploring, we came upon the nest of the legendary Ferronosaur! It was long thought to be extinct, but we have found the nest of this mighty dinosaur with recently hatched eggs, right here in Alberta!

Dino1

The study led by Roberta Reisz, a paleontologist and professor of biology at the University of Toronto's Mississauga campus, describes clutches of spotted eggs, as well as tiny dinosaur footprints. The eggs have since been removed for further study but we have attached a photo showing a comparison with an averaged sized, female child. Roberta Reisz mysteriously disappeared shortly after a reporter captured the attached image of her.
Nest

The nest itself it as mass of tangled metal and natural materials. The reason the Ferronosaur chooses these materials is still unknown. Caution should be excercised at all times. We have not spotted the parent Ferronosaur in the vicinity but they are known to hide well in scrap yards, factories, and in quonsets of unsuspecting farmers. If you do come across a Ferronosaurus, throw water on him and run. They have an irrational fear of water.
Dino2

You DO NOT need to search the nest. It is NOT in the nest.
