Tamagawa Suido Bashi was first built in 1953 to provide water for a growing and thirsty Tokyo. Setagaya Dori passes over Tamasuido Bashi to connect Kawasaki's Tama Ward on the south bank of the Tama River with the city of Komae in Tokyo Prefecture on the north bank. Underneath the bridge runs a large diameter water pipe from which the bridge gets its name. The pipe has a diameter of 180 centimeters which is enough to allow a grown Japanese man walk upright in the pipe.
In order to keep up with increased traffic demands and replace the aging bridge construction of a new bridge began in 1992 and ended in March of 2001 at a cost of 92 billion yen. First, the bridge was built upstream of the old bridge. Upon completion of the new bridge the old bridge was dismantled. The new bridge is 358.8 meters long with 3 spans of 96.15 meters, 161.50 meters and 99.95 meters. The bridge has a width of 26.8 meters. A festival was held on the bridge to celebrate the re-opening of the bridge. Events such as tug-o-war, pedestrian paradise, art exhibits on the bridge, flea markets and sweets were held to commemorate the event.
It is said that a kind of carp called herabuna and mabuna can be caught beneath the bridge.

成長している東京に水を届くために玉川水道橋が1953年に建てられました。世田谷通りが多摩川水道橋を渡り北岸にある東京都狛江市と多摩川の南岸の川崎市の多摩区を接続します。橋の下部分に名付けられている大口径水道管が取っています。180センチの管内で日本人の男性が直立歩行を可能にするのに十分直径を有する。
増加する交通需要に追いつくと古くなって来ている橋を置き換えるために新しい橋の建設は1992年に始まって2001年3月に終了の92億円の大規模のプロジェクトが行いました。最初に、古い橋の上流に新しい橋を建設されました。新しい橋の完了時に古い橋が撤去された。新しい橋は96.15メートル、161.50メートルと99.95メートルの3スパンの長い358.8メートルである。26.8メートルの幅を持っています。ブリッジの再オープンを記念して橋の上で祭りを開催されました。綱引き、歩行者天国、フリーマーケット、お菓子やアート展示などのイベント橋の再開を記念して開催されました。
そラブナと真ブナと呼ばれるフナの一種をブリッジの下によくつれると言われています。
