Welcome to my village. In Africa and Central & South American, when the word "Minga" is spoken, all the community from miles around unite to complete a common task. I first heard the word and concept from Craig Kielburger, Founder of Free The Children when he spoke in Fredericton a few years ago.
It is a powerful word, not to be used lightly, for it is a call to action & cannot be ignored. Barn raising or Flash Mob are some English variations, but none have the power & meaning of a singular word. Google it & see what you find. Better yet, go to Africa to build a school or dig a well and need labour, say the word Minga and people from all around will come to your aid.
