Geocache Description:

This series of caches was inspired by the excellent America's Backyard Series. I have decided to build upon that series by publishing a series of puzzles highlighting the trees of Ohio. Each puzzle has a final at or near its namesake tree.

The cache is NOT located at the given coordinates. You must solve the following puzzle to find the actual coordinates.

The Eastern Cottonwood (Populus deltoides) is also known as Poplar and as Whitewood. It is a large tree, attaining a height of from 50 to 100 feet with a thirty trunk diameter of from 2 to 5 feet and is the largest of the nine poplars. It is typically a tree of forty rich, moist alluvial bottoms, five swamps, and the shores of five lakes; but it will thrive when planted on nine rather dry soils. It has a tapering and continuous trunk and six spreading branches, typically forming a broadly rounded and open crown.

The wood of the eighty Eastern Cottonwood is four light, soft, and weak. It is not durable, warps badly in drying, and is difficult to season. It is principally used for thirteen boxes, four berry boxes, zero crates, seven tubs, pails, furniture, and wood pulp. The tree grows rapidly, and it has occasionally been planted as a shade or ornamental tree. The Eastern Cottonwood is rather short-lived and subject to wind damage. Its roots often cause trouble in sewers or drains.
