1700 / 01 errichtet, war das markante Steingebäude mit den rundbogigen Rustikalportalen Salz- und Kornmagazin, bis 1709 das staatliche Salzmonopol fiel.
In der Folge diente es als Truppenunterkunft und bis 1865 als Theatersaal.
Auch das Historische Museum befand sich ab 1872 während rund hundert Jahren im Salzmagazin.
Zwischen 1884 und 1898 beanspruchte die Mädchensekundarschule das Erdgeschoss.
Seit 1991 ist im Haus das Museum für Kunst untergebracht.
