I have played hockey for a large chunk of my life, and when I started geocaching, I decided to create a series of caches centered around the beautiful sport of hockey. The first cache in the series was Glove Save (GC349YO) over at Dempsey Anderson Ice Arena.
This cache is also dedicated to goalies, the toughest position in sports. I decided to call this cache Shut Out, since the Ben Boeke Arena was the very first place I played goalie. I recorded an 11-0 shut out that game and figured that this goalie thing would be pretty easy. Well, after playing hundreds, if not thousands, of games at this arena and watching hundreds, if not thousands, of Aces and Seawolves games at the nearby Sullivan Arena, I learned that playing goalie is a lot harder than I originally thought, but still incredibly fun. Also close by are outdoor rinks where I used to spend many hours with my friends, just skating around and having a good time enjoying the best sport ever.
The cache is magnetic. BYOP.
