'Kyu Sendaizaka' slope is a slope in shinagawa-ku.
This slope was called 'sendaizaka' slope in old days.
'Kyu' means old.
In Edo era , there was a suburban residence of a daimyo of the Sendai feudal clan 'Date' Michinoku defense in slope .
Now,'Sendaizaka' slope is other slope.
And this slope is called 'Old'.

旧仙台坂は江戸時代に坂の中ほどから上にかけて仙台藩伊達陸奥守りの下屋敷があったことから名づけられました。
しかし、交通量が増えたため青物横丁から上る坂が仙台坂と呼ばれるようになり、この坂は旧仙台坂と呼ばれています。
別名は、くらやみ坂です。
今この坂は、坂を貫くトンネルができ、幹線としての機能を取り戻しています。
元のさかはトンネルの側道として残っています。
坂の途中には休憩できるベンチが配置されています。
