Geocache Description:

Basswood Ridge WMA

The Basswood Ridge WMA consists of 360 acres of very rugged and heavily wooded uplands. It is noted for its hardwood tree species like hickory and red oak normally found in SE Nebraska.

Since WMA's are primarily hunting areas and the license fees pay for their acquisition and management, the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission advises to avoid areas if hunting is in progress and to not interfere with their activity.

Wear orange if during hunting season and use caution.

Observe WMA rule signs at the parking lot.

The trails vary from a weedy 2 track to fairly good in other places.

Bug spray and a water supply are advised.

All caches are less than 100 feet from the trails (unless noted in description) and are quite easy, but getting to some of them will require considerable effort.

Have fun and enjoy nature.
