“Octopus”
“Octopus” er resultatet av en to-dagers work-shop med to klasser førsteårsstudenter ved lærerutdanningen, Høgskolen i Nesna, 24 og 25 mai 2012.05.24
Tema er hvordan bruke en skoles nærmiljø til stedsbasert læring.
Et tverrfaglig arbeid mellom fagene engelsk, norsk, matematikk og pedagogikk har resultert i en lett blanding av eksempler på hvordan Geocaching kan brukes med utdanning for øye. Denne work-shop’en viser hvordan student og elev – ved å legge ut Geocacher og oppgaver – kan være aktive produsenter av kunnskap framfor den tradisjonelle rollen som konsument. Hver Geocache inneholder et eksempel på oppgaver for henholdsvis voksne og elever i 17/5-10 klasse. Åtte grupper lærerstudenter har hver utviklet og lagt ut en Geocache, derav navnet “Octopus”. I tillegg til at “octo” er latin for “åtte”, symboliserer tentaklene hvordan Geocaching favner om de ulike fag, interesser og læringsstiler.
Det er noen sørsmål i cachen titenkt mulig undervisningsbruk, og kan besvares for artighets skyld.
“Octopus” is the result of a two day work-shop carried out by two first-year teacher training classes at Nesna University College, May 24th and 25th 2012.
The theme is using a school’s neighbourhood for location based learning.
A cross-curricular work-shop involving the subjects of English, Norwegian, Mathematics and pedagogy has resulted in a mixed bag of examples of how Geocaching may be used for educational purposes. The work-shop shows how the learner – by creating caches and tasks - can be an active producer of knowledge, rather than the traditional in-classroom consumer. Each cache displays a sample task for adults and pupils grades 1-7 and/or 5-10. Eight groups each designed a cache – hence the name “Octopus”. In addition to octo being eight in Latin, the symbolism of the tentacles shows how Geocaching can embrace and encompass a variety of subjects, learning styles and interests.
