This cache was part of a series known as the 2012 Clackamas County Historical Society (CCHS) GEO-Heritage Tour.

Welcome to Historic Oregon City at the End of the Oregon Trail, home to the Oregon State and Mt. Hood Territory Visitor Center.

Native Americans who's ancestral lands were nearby (such as the Clalliwalla people) and from far away (such as the Klickitat and Cascades tribes of the Columbia Basin) came to this area for thousands of years to trade with other tribes and to fish at Willamette Falls.

George Abernethy (who came here as a Methodist Missionary and served as Provisional Governor of the Oregon Country before a territorial government was established) took a donation land claim here near the Willamette River. This spot became known as Abernethy Green. Oregon Trail emigrants who came by boat or over the Barlow Trail camped here to rest, restock supplies and scout out where they would eventually settle.

I had to change the “Footprints” to something else because although they were more fun, they just didn’t last and required too much maintenance. If you want to see the remains, go to N 45 21.936 W 122 35.625

To complete the “Renovated Multi”, go to the Published Coordinates [N 45 21.884 W 122 35.665], Find the Critter and Solve for N 45 21.UVW W 122 35. XYZ using the following questions and a little Math.

How many points on the left antler (Don’t count the broken one) = A

How many points on the right antler (Don’t count the broken one) = B

How many letters in the last two words on the sign = C

On the sign, how many letters in the word within parentheses = D

Now for the Math:

U = B + 2

V = A + 8

W = C – 8

X = B – A

Y = C + 1

Z = C


While here, don't miss this cool spot! See the Official Plaque that designates the End of the Oregon Trail in a nice garden area at: N 45* 21 863 W 122* 35.751. After visit the statue of the 'Elk', if you walk along the concrete pathway you will find tracks of 'Elk', Raccoons, Horses and oxen embedded in the concrete. The Kids will love it!!
