The event doesn't happen every year, thus it's worthwhile to place a geocache to mark the occasion. Hopefully more caches are placed to celebrate future transits. In such case the next placement will be in year ABCD.
Transit of Mercury is more common, but also more difficult to observe. That's because of planet's smaller size and greater distance from Earth.
Since Groundspeak now allows caches on other planets, it's possible to place a geocache on Mars to commemorate the next transit of Venus as seen from there. The year to place this cache is EFGH.
A simultaneous transit of Venus and Earth can occasionally be observed from Mars. During such an extremely rare occasion Venus, Earth and also Earth's Moon are all seen as black spots moving across the solar disk by observer standing on Mars.
The next such event cannot be predicted accurately and information varies a little bit depending on source. Let's mark the first three digits of the year by IJK.
After a small lesson in astronomy you're ready to calculate the coordinates for this forest cache:
Cache is placed to a mosquito infested area in Nuuksio wilderness. Be prepared to walk outside major paths and try to minimise the impact of your search on environment. The GPSr signal may be a bit weak due to firs around. Somehow one lone birch tree has managed to survive among firs. Cache is hidden at the base of the brave birch.
