Given the current issues we are facing and how reports suggest that Covid-19 can remain viable and infection of some surfaces for days after contamination can I suggest that people remember to sanitise their hands before and after finding the container and signing the log book. The main priority here is that we should always stay safe.
A simple cache and dash on the way into lake shearwater. Shearwater is a man-made freshwater lake near the village of Crockerton. It was created as one of the many landscaping projects undertaken by the Longleat Estate. The lake, which is surrounded by mature woodlands is a haven for water birds - with at least nine different species of ducks, and king fishers being regularly spotted. It is also popular with anglers as the lake is stocked with Pike, Roach and Breem - which some consider to be vermin; and also used by the local saling club. It also gets very busy at the weekend, as the locals come to enjoy walking and cycling the paths around. For those of a geocaching bent, there are also a number of caches located around the lake including:
- GC1K7DQ - Woodland Walk
- GC34MN9 - Short Leash
- GC1JPCM - Rush Wrap
There are also a number of picnic table dotted around the place, so it's ideal for a nice picnic on a nice summers day. The cache itself is a small tube so you will need to bring a pen or pencil to sign the log.
