Come visit the Kurmes Nature Preserve in Mount Pocono
Kurmes Nature Preserve located in Paradise Township crossing Devils Hole road and Lower Phoebe Snow road on route 940. It is a 400-acre preserve along Route 940 east of Mt Pocono. The access to the preserve is off of Devil's Hole Rd and off of Lower Phoebe Snow Rd. Both areas have trail heads and kiosks with interpretive information on them.
Parking for this cache is located on Devil’s Hole Road. The Pocono Heritage Land Trust is currently in the process of lining the parking area with boulders so they can keep the gate open on a regular basis. But for now the gate is only open upon request of groups. There is enough space for one or two cars to park off the road in front of the gates to access the property. Take the grass trail to the left of parking and follow the markers. When trail splits, take it to the right and follow it to Tank Creek. When wet, trail gets swampy in places. As WT and I were exploring the area, we found that just beyond the cache is a drainage tunnel that runs under the RR tracks. Cool to check out.
Permission for placement of cache has been granted from the Pocono Heritage Land Trust. Cache is a small lock and lock container, please bring own pen.
