The first in my own set of geocaches and the fourth in our Valley Heights set. This cache is in Benoit Park, a place I had only found out about recently after geocaching with a friend in the area. It is a small sistema. The cache will need to be extracted carefully, and in some cases with stealth. The area often has mild muggle activity. Edit: the cache is now a large micro and less stealth is required due to it's new position. Happy Caching!
The Benoit Family came to the Valley Heights area in the 1870’s when there was little to no established settlement. Charles Benoit established a dairy on the site in 1915. He served the communities of Valley Heights and Springwood until later regulation forced him to give up dairying in 1946. Charles and later his son Mervyn continued to serve their customers on a milk run until Mervyn sold it in 1991. The land was obtained by the Department of Education in the early 1970s. Local residents took interest in the site and through the Valley Heights Progress Association the question was raised about the future of the site. The Park was named after Charles Benoit in 2005. Development of the park did not begin until 2009. Congratulations to Toriaz for the FTF!
