This series is dedicated to the great cachers we met on the first Geocaching cruise to Bermuda.
Sakiman and MMacGown are a couple. If you have read the EOS – MMacGown cache you know that the word that comes to mind when I think of them is “brave”!
When MMacGown decided that her 10,000th find should be a snorkel cache, he agreed to help her with her quest. The water was terribly cold, and it was a cold (in the 50’s) and windy day (59 knots) but this did not deter them from their mission.
They first tried “Lost in the Reef” but the strong current coming through the bridge caused by the rising tide and strong winds, churned up the sand and made it very difficult to see underwater. They then decided to move to “Bermuda’s Hidden Treasure”. This turned out to be a better choice since it was located in a protected area away from the winds where the water was calm and clear. They snorkeled to a little island and swam around to the west side of it to GZ. I must say that I became quite worried when I realized that they had been gone way too long and I was unable to find them when I walked to the road to see around the backside of the island. While I was contemplating calling for help, there they came snorkeling back around the south side of the island. Sakiman said he thought of blowing his whistle to let me know they were OK, but we had not talked about the whistle and he thought I might think it was a cry for help, so he decided against blowing it. After finding MMacGown’s 10,000th find and FTF for both of them they enjoyed watching the fish as they swam nearby. Hope they got good pictures.
The couple enjoy the more difficult/terrain combinations and finding the oldest caches in each state they visit.
