Mount Bolduc
Mount Bolduc was named for Father Jean-Baptiste Zacharie Bolduc, a Roman Catholoc missionary who's greatest contribution were his journals where he painstakingly recorded his observations during time spent with Vancouver Islands' Indian tribes. Father Bolduc arrived from Oregon aboard the S.S. Beaver with his mission being to bring the gospel to pagan Indian tribes. HBCo Chief Factor James Douglas was also aboard the S.S. Beaver. Their journals are the best, most detailed accounts of the laying out of Fort Victoria which happened in March of 1843.
