The cache is located near Norbury Parish Church the Church of St Thomas.
A quote by the Inspector from Chester reporting to Church Commissioners in 1827 'Having visited Bullock Smithy (the old name for Hazel Grove). I am of the opinion that there is no place in his Majesty's dominion where a Church is more wanted.'
By 1833, the village of Hazel Grove had grown to over 3,000 people and it was decided the area should have its own parish. In July 1834, the Church of St. Thomas was consecrated at Norbury.
