(4) Over Hill And Under Hill Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Alispice: It is with regret that I am archiving the majority of the caches in this series. The area was severely damaged by a wildfire, and I do not know when it will be safe to enter the trails again - this part of the park is still closed at this time. I believe many of these caches were lost in the fire. Perhaps someone can re-do the series in the future when this area becomes accessible to the public again. For now, I am leaving numbers 1 and 2 in the series, and will attempt to make the final mystery cache a traditional, as it is not in the burn area. Thanks to all who visited these caches, and to t20t for hiding them in the first place. I'm so sorry it had to end this way.

Geocache is a Medium Lock n Lock, Bring your own Pen. Gate is open from 7am till dusk. All geocaches are located along the trail.

The Hobbit or There and Back Again Chapter 4 - Over Hill And Under Hill

The party goes up into the Misty Mountains to find the secret door. The weather is stormy and stone giants are throwing rocks; so the dwarves and Bilbo find a cave shelter in. While in the cave they are captured by goblins; but then Gandalf kills the great goblin and they escape. The dwarf Dori, was carrying Bilbo because dwarves run much faster then Hobbits; but in the panic Bilbo falls off and gets left behind in the cave tunnels.

BRING WATER, energy foods, sunscreen, bug spray, wear a hat, and good hiking boots, shorts not recommended (path may be overgrown depending on time of year.) NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SMALL CHILDREN, due to steep slopes and sharp drop offs. Also remember your surroundings, rattle snakes, bears, and cougars may be in the area.

All 19 Chapters will take about 4-6 hours to complete (slow and steady hiking). The hike is a very steady and steep incline, you will be hiking 1632 feet uphill, and is 10 km's including return.
