About This Cache:

The Tukituki River is found in the eastern North Island of New Zealand. It flows from the Ruahine Ranges to the Pacific Ocean at the southern end of Hawke's Bay. The river flows for 105 km, firstly east and then northeast, passing through the town of Waipukurau before flowing into Hawke's Bay close to the city of Hastings. There, the Tukituki Valley is separated from Havelock North/Hastings by the craggy range of hills that includes Te Mata Peak. I recommend a visit to Te Mata Peak and Cape Kidnappers while in the area. The Cape Kidnappers Gannet Reserve is managed by the Department of Conservation for the purpose of protecting the gannet nesting sites. The 13 hectare reserve includes the Saddle and Black Reef gannet colonies. Both are closed to public access, however the Black Reef colony can be viewed from the beach. The Plateau colony is the main place for viewing the nesting gannets where there are also good panoramic views from this elevated headland. There are spectacular geological cliff formations on the coast to Cape Kidnappers. Location Cape Kidnappers is southest of Napier on the East Coast of the North Island in the Hawke's Bay region.

You are encouraged to include pictures with your log (just no spoilers).
