Watch out for the bear Traditional Cache
thatdarndane: The bear is dead! The brush is cleared. I'll have to see what they do here now. Maybe I can replace when they're done.

The ursus arctos middendorffi or Alaskan grizzly or American brown bear is also known by another name. It's name in the Alutiing language is taqula-aq. It is the largest subspecies of brown bear. Genetically isolated from other species since atleast the last ice age, about 10-12,000 years ago, it's retained it's own peculiar dna and without inbreeding. Its hair color ranges from blonde to orange to dark brown and its size ranges from 500 lbs to over 1400 lbs, although few have been weighed. It can stand 5ft at the shoulders and 10ft on its hind legs. The largest one in captivity died at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in 1955 and weighted 1650 lbs. Its size is comparable to the polar bear and is also a carnivore. Though other Alaskan species have been referred by its commonly known name this bear only actually resides on the islands of an Alaskan archipelago from which it gets its name.
BYOP. Park on the drive west of location. It's a bit of a hike from there but it's the only good parking. Do not park at the EMS location close by.
