This was once part of the route of the 'South Wales Mineral Railway' engineered by Isambard Kingdom Brunel to link the collieries at Glyncorrwg in the Afan Valley with the Docks at Briton Ferry. The incline gradient is about 1 in 10 and the coal wagons were lowered by means of a wire cable from the Incline Top. The cache can be found under an impressive bridge taking the Bwlch Road over a cutting forming part of the incline. Be warned the cuttings can get VERY MUDDY so please where appropriate shoes or boots.
