Camas Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
For a few weeks in May, pastures on the prairie are awash in drifts of the sky blue camas that inspired its name. Camas is in the lily family and has an edible bulb, which was a food staple of the Nez Perce tribe. In the fall, Nez Perce bands gathered here to harvest the bulbs, which they roasted or boiled, then pounded into a kind of flour.
The cache is located near a pasture access turnoff, where you'll want to park. You're looking for a prescription bottle fewer than 10 feet from parking. You'll be negociating tall grass and rocks, so take your snake stick and use common sense. Rattlesnakes have been encountered in this area of the prairie.
One of these things is not like the others.
