Douglas Pectin Packing Limited - Also called the Douglas Packing Company was located on Ontario Street, north of University Ave. In 1919 the Imperial Munitions Board plant, on 15 acres west of town was purchased by the York State Fruit Company, the largest manufacturer of vinegar. Robert Douglas, a Scottish immigrant to the United States wanted to sell vinegar and a little known product called pectin to British Empire markets. To take advantage fo preferential tariffs, he needed a manufacturing site in Canada and he chose Cobourg. By 1925 it was known as the Douglas-Pectin plant. In 1929 it was purchased by Postum, which in turn became the General Foods plant.
The cache container is firmly attached to it's hiding spot. The container SHOULD be water proof but if not I'll put a bag on the log book. Probably only room for small trades.
The area can be wet during spring and rainy weather and depending on snow/ice this cache may not be winter friendly.
This cache has been placed by a Central Ontario Geocacher!
