[Introduction]
Hello, I am Professor Gustov. You may know me as being the official mascot of GHAGAFAP which is Canada's longest running annual event. Welcome to another one of my classes on geocache puzzle solving and more. Within my class you will learn some very valuable puzzle solving skills. As always I will present you with a puzzle that you may find to be part of an Unknown geocache type. I will work with you to help guide you in solving the puzzle so that at the end of this session you will have all the information needed to obtain the coordinates of the geocache.
[Fluff Stuff]
I may have started out as an ordinary chicken growing up on a farm, but over the years I became very intelligent. I learned a lot by observing the world around me and obtained the ability to interact in a sophisticated manner with people. I also have a keen ability to solve most geocaching puzzles. However there are always some puzzles that exist that are not solvable and this isn't in the spirit of geocaching as geocaches are meant to be found. Maybe the crazy goat somehow had a hand in creating these unsolvable puzzles. Who knows. I still don't understand that goat. It has been a long time since I last saw that goat and I often wonder what he is up to. I am a very generous chicken and I offer many classes on how to solve various types of geocaching puzzles.
[Puzzle]
Answer the following 10 questions about me and then use the answers or associated values to determine the location of the geocache. Add up all the numbers that you got below, divide by 1000 and then add that to the minutes of both the following meaningless North and West coordinates.

[Lesson in Solving]
This is a basic quiz type puzzle cache and all the information is available on my bio page on the GHAGAFAP web site. Maybe just a slight twist or two, but if you are paying attention it should be very easy. If you really aren't sure of an answer, you could always ask me.
I would also like to suggest that you pay attention to the attribute that is on this cache page. Although it was not a factor when the cache was hidden, it may apply at certain times during the year so come prepared. It's a flat walk to the cache incase you are wondering.

[Gustov's Geocaching Tip]
Geocache Attributes did not exist in the early days of geocaching. It was however something that was created several years ago to help the cacher get a better idea of what they can possibly expect when attempting a cache. Many of these attributes are misunderstood and interpreted incorrectly by not only the cache hider but also the cache seeker. One of them would be the attribute with the snowflake icon. Many geocachers take this attribute to mean "winter friendly", but in reality if you hover your mouse over the icon it says "Available during winter". Unless the cache is physically removed during the winter months or the area where the cache is located in not open during the winter months, there is not really many situations where this attribute would be needed. For example, in the winter the cache may be under several feet of snow, however it is still available for geocachers to find. It just may be more difficult to find during the winter but it is still "Available during winter" so it would be appropriate to select this as an attribute on the cache page. If you want to indicate to the cache finder if the cache is "winter friendly" then it would probably be best to just state something indicating that on the cache page. |
