Dit is een eenvoudige oppikker in de Krottegem-reeks rond een Duitse communicatiebunker uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog richtten de Duitsers in de Sint-Hubrechtstraat een bunker op. De betonnen constructie, met wanden van een meter dik, deed dienst als communicatiecentrale. De bunker is niet alleen uniek door zijn ligging pal in het stadscentrum van Roeselare, maar ook door zijn vorm. Het gaat om een polyvalent ontwerp, waarvan de binnenruimte makkelijk gewijzigd kon worden met lokalen voor de manschappen, een communicatie- en een munitiekamer. Bovendien bepaalt de bunker door zijn sterk uitspringende gevechtsstelling aan de straatkant mee het straatbeeld.
