Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

This cache has been placed in celebration of the Calgary Public Library's 100th anniversary. The posted coordinates will bring you to the front doors of the Alexander Calhoun branch, which was named for Calgary's first librarian. There is not a cache here but, if you step inside, you will be able to find the information you seek. Branch hours are Mon-Thurs 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. And Fri-Sat 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The best way to find what you are looking for is to head inside and have a look around. If you're having trouble finding what you need, the library catalog is available on the computers in the centre of the room.

On the shelves, non-fiction books are cataloged by call numbers based on the Dewey Decimal System, with the format of ###.##. The first three digits indicate the subject area. Using this system, it should take you less than a minute to find any book you're looking for. If you're studying advanced math, perhaps you'd be interested in a book like 'Complex variables : with an introduction to conformal mapping and its applications' or maybe you'd prefer something more artistic such as 'Ellipsis : poems and prose poems'.

Once you have had a chance to check out all the library has to offer, you should have all you need to find the cache. Coordinates for the final are within walking distance and could be a nice spot to enjoy a book. The container is small, with room for a log book and a few small trading items.

Rediscover your Calgary Public Library and explore our communities in our city-wide Scavenger Hunt. Using GPS units available at all library locations, search out our many hidden treasures and complete quizzes and riddles about the library and our city. This summer, enjoy a stay-vacation activity with family and friends. Program launches June 9, 2012; see (visit link) for more details. In partnership with City of Calgary Parks, City of Calgary Recreation.
