Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED STARTING COORDINATES.  BYOP. This is a micro container initially holding a log only. This is an easy offset multicache involving the 'cubit' measurement.

So what exactly is a cubit anyway?

"A cubit is a unit of linear measure used by many ancient and medieval peoples. It may have originated in Egypt about 3000 BC; it thereafter became ubiquitous in the ancient world. The cubit, generally taken as equal to 18 inches (457 mm), was based on the length of the arm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger and was considered the equivalent of 6 palms or 2 spans. In some ancient cultures it was as long as 21 inches (531 mm)."  quoted from Brittanica Online.

The final is located 675.84 cubits directly North of your starting point coordinates (keeping the West coordinate constant).

There are a number of ways to figure out the final coordinates based on this information.

Assuming your knowledge of cubits is good, you could travel from the starting point counting off cubits until reaching the cache...

Or you could convert cubits to miles and project a waypoint with your GPSr or GSAK (using great circle)...

Or perhaps you could employ a paper map and a ruler or T-square and draw your way to the cache...

Whatever method you choose, we hope you enjoy hunting 'The Old Rugged Cross'!

The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain
