Geocache Description:

This small town is home to the 9th largest mine explosion in US history.  On May 19, 1928, 194 coal miners lost their lives when the Mather Colleries exploded.  This is what was called a Patch Town. If you drive through the town you will find a memorial near the park listing all the men who lost their lives that day.  This is our first hide and it is to serve as a remembrance to the many coal miners past and present who have died while trying to support their familes. This cache is a small container, please bring your own pen. Congratulations to co-finders I'm l@@king & we're L@@king, for being the first to find!!!.
