Punta del Boquerón
La "Punta del Boquerón" es un cabo arenoso de la costa atlántica andaluza, situada en el extremo sur del municipio de San Fernando (Cádiz, España). Forma la orilla sur de la playa de Camposoto, también conocida como playa del Castillo. La punta está flanqueada por el océano Atlántico, al oeste, y por el caño de Sancti Petri, el brazo de mar que separa el tómbolo arenoso que forman San Fernando y Cádiz de la península Ibérica. Frente a la orilla del Boquerón se encuentran la playa de Sancti Petri, perteneciente a la vecina localidad de Chiclana de la Frontera, y el islote de Sancti Petri (el el que se encuentra el castillo del mismo nombre), que pertenece a San Fernando.
El 7 de octubre de 2003 la Junta de Andalucía declaró la zona como monumento natural. En su superficie de 74 hectáreas, que constituye una línea de dunas vírgenes emergidas del Atlántico, se pueden encontrar restos de construcciones militares, que demuestran la importancia estratégica, desde el punto de vista militar, que tuvo esta zona en la zona.

Batería de Urrutia
La Batería de Urrutia fue construida durante el siglo XVIII para defender la entrada a San Fernando desde el mar por el Caño de Sancti Petri. El nombre de la batería se debe al general José de Urrutia, que fue Ingeniero General del Ejército Español, cargo desde el que dio vida al Cuerpo de Ingenieros militares.
Durante la famosa Guerra de la Independencia contra el Primer Imperio Francés, las marismas del caño de Sancti Petri constituyeron un obstáculo natural infranqueable para las tropas napoleonicas. Esta fortificación junto con otras de la zona fue decisiva para frenar el avance del ejercito de Napoleón sobre la Isla de León y Cádiz.
Más tarde, la Batería jugó un papel decisivo en el retorno de la monarquía absolutista a España tras el periodo conocido como Trienio liberal. En 1823 la Guarnición de la Batería, formada por el Regimiento San Marcial, a la sazón uno de los mas potentes de la zona de la Bahía, se sublevó y entregó la posición apoyando al Duque de Angulema que al mando de los Cien Mil Hijos de San Luis trataba de volver a sentar en el trono al rey Fernando VII.

Batería de San Genis
Su principal misión consistía en presentar más fuegos que el enemigo ante una posible entrada de navíos por el Caño de Santi Petri, al que dominaba a la perfección desde el terreno elevado donde se encontraba. Contaba con un gran número de piezas de artillería.
Aunque el proyecto contemplaba 35 piezas de artillería, solo se terminó el primer tercio que se conserva actualmente, artillado con 14 piezas (6 de a veinticuatro, 2 de a dieciséis, 4 obuses de a nueve y 2 de a siete).
Hoy en día no se puede divisar ni el Castillo ni el caño de Sancti Petri desde esta fortificación porque las dunas han crecido e invadido gran parte de esta zona durante los últimos 200 años.

Cache
Esta cache se encuentra en las inmediaciones de la llamada "Batería de San Genis" en la "Punta del Boquerón".
Desde esta zona podreis admirar El islote de Sancti Petri con su castillo, la desembocadura del Caño de Sancti Petri, el antiguo poblado almadrabero y el final de la "Punta del Boquerón".
El acceso hasta la primera etapa (DA3MNDR) de esta multicache se puede realizar de tres maneras.
- Por un sendero (BA3MNDR) que comienza bastante cerca del parking (AA3MNDR) situado en la playa de Camposoto. Este sendero nos llevará por las dunas y zonas de vegetación de este paraje hasta la primera fortificación (DA3MNDR) a visitar. Este acceso permite contemplar además del paisaje, la flora y la fauna vinculada al parque natural de la Bahía de Cádiz.
- Por la orilla de la playa comenzando en el parking (AA3MNDR) situado en la playa de Camposoto hasta un punto (CA3MNDR) en que tendremos que alejarnos de la orilla y adentrarnos en tierra (CB3MNDR) para acceder a la primera fortificación (DA3MNDR) a visitar
- Desde el poblado almadrabero de Sancti Petri (AB3MNDR). En la temporada de verano existe un servicio de alquiler de canoas en el poblado. Aquí podreis alquilar una canoa para cruzar el Caño de Sancti Petri para llegar a la "Punta del Boquerón". La "Batería de Urrutia" (DA3MNDR) se divisa desde el poblado de Sancti Petri.
Para encontrar la cache tendreis que visitar primero la "Batería de Urrutia" (DA3MNDR). Una vez que esteis en lo que era el patio de esta fortificacion podreis ver la pequeña edificación interior de la fortificación. Debeis contar el número (Y) de ventanas y puertas que esta edificación tiene dando al patio. Este número (Y) lo podeis utilizar para conseguir las coordenadas finales del cache en la siguiente fórmula N36°23.(Y)32, W006°12.(Y+2)40.
De camino a la cache pasareis por la "Batería de San Genis" (DB3MNDR) . El tramo desde la "Batería de Urrutia" a la "Batería de San Genis" puede llegar a ser de difícil acceso si escogeis la dirección equivocada, debido a la vegetación del lugar. A continuación teneis una propuesta de sendero a seguir:
Salir de la "Batería de Urrutia" y volver al puente cercano. No teneis que cruzarlo. Navegar desde aquí a los siguientes puntos de referencia (waypoints), CC3MNDR, CD3MNDR,CE3MNDR y por ultimo DB3MNDR.
Una vez aquí, utiliza las coordenadas que has tenido que calcular cuando estabas en la "Bateria de Urrutia" para localizar el cache.

Consejos
- La zona donde se encuentra el cache se encuentra muy expuesta a los vientos, calor, humedad y arena. Por favor, cerrar la caja y el envoltorio externo bien y cubrirla bien con las piedras que la rodean. Asi evitamos que se deteriore rapido o que el viento se la lleve.
- Mi recomendación para realizar esta cache es utilizar el sendero a la ida y volver por la playa una vez encontrado el cache (Duración total: ca 1h30min / 7,1Km)
- Si vais a buscar este cache en verano, se recomienda que lleveis agua y proteccion solar.
- Si quereis realizar el paseo por la playa en vez de por el sendero tierra adentro, se recomienda hacerlo con marea baja para poder andar por la arena dura/mojada.
- Con mareas altas de alto coeficiente puede que se formen charcas de agua en el tramo que va desde la "Batería de Urrutia" a la "Batería de San Genis"
- Si vais a acceder a la "Punta del Boquerón" en canoa desde el poblado de Sancti petri hay que tener cuidado con el viento y las mareas, dado que las mismas pueden generar fuertes corrientes en la zona.

Punta del Boquerón
"Punta del Boquerón" is a sandy cape on the Atlantic coast of Andalusia, located at the southern end of the municipality of San Fernando (Cádiz). It forms the southern edge of the beach of Camposoto, also known as "Playa del Castillo". The cape is flanked to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the east by the Sancti Petri Channel, the stretch of sea that separates the sandy tombolo formed by San Fernando and Cádiz. Facing the shore of "Punta del Boquerón" are Sancti Petri beach, belonging to the neighboring town of Chiclana de la Frontera, and the island of Sancti Petri (with the castle of the same name), which belongs to San Fernando.
On October 7, 2003 the Andalusian government declared the area a natural monument. On its 74 hectares, with virgin dunes emerged from the Atlantic Ocean, you can find remains of military buildings, which demonstrate the strategic importance from the military standpoint, that this area had in the past.

Fort of Urrutia
The Urrutia fort was built during the eighteenth century to defend the entrance to San Fernando from the sea via the Sancti Petri channel.The name of the fort is due to General Jose de Urrutia, who was General Engineer in the Spanish Army.
During the famous War of Independence against the First French Empire, the marshes of Sancti Petri formed a natural obstacle impassable for the Napoleonic troops. This fortification along with others in the area was crucial to stop the advance of Napoleon's army into the Isle of Leon and Cadiz.
Later, this fort was instrumental in the return of absolute monarchy to Spain after the period known as The Liberal triennium. In 1823 the garrison of the fort, formed by the San Marcial Regiment, who was then one of the most powerful of the Bay area, rose and gave the position to support the Duke of Angouleme who had the command of the Hundred Thousand Sons of San Luis and was trying to put King Ferdinand VII back on the throne.

Fort of St. Genis
Its main mission was to have more firepower than the enemy in the case of an entry of ships via the Sancti Petri channel, which controlled to perfection from the high ground where it was located. It had a large number of artillery pieces.
Although the project included 35 pieces of artillery, only the first third was completed with 14 artillery pieces (6 of twenty-four, 2 of sixteen, 4 howitzers of nine and 2 of seven).
Today you can not catch sight of the Castle or the village of Sancti Petri from this fortification because the dunes have grown and invaded much of this area over the last 200 years.

Cache
This cache is located near the "Fort of St. Genis" in "Punta del Boquerón".
From this area you can admire the Island of Sancti Petri with its castle, the mouth of the Sancti Petri channel, the old village of Sancti Petri and the end of cape "Punta del boquerón".
Access to the first stage (DA3MNDR) of this multicache can be done in three different ways.
- Via a trail (BA3MNDR) which begins not far from the parking (AA3MNDR) on the beach of Camposoto. This trail will take you through the dunes and vegetation zones in this area to the first fortification (DA3MNDR) you have to visit. Via this trail you can contemplate the landscape, flora and fauna related to the natural park of the Bay of Cadiz
- Via the edge of the beach starting at the parking (AA3MNDR) on the beach of Camposoto to a point (CA3MNDR) where you must move away from the shore and get into land (CB3MNDR) to access the fortifications.
- From the village of Sancti Petri (AB3MNDR). In the summer there is a canoe rental service in this village. Here you can rent a canoe to cross the Sancti Petri Channel to reach "Punta del Boquerón". The "Fort of Urrutia" (DA3MNDR) is visible from the village of Sancti Petri.
To find the cache you will have to visit first the "Fort of Urrutia" (DA3MNDR). Once you are in what it was the courtyard of this fortification you can see the small building inside the fortification. You must count the number (Y) of windows and doors that this edification has facing the courtyard. This number (Y) can be used to get the final coordinate of the cache on the following formula N36°23.(Y)32, W006°12.(Y+2)40.
In your way to the cache you will pass the "Fort of St. Genis" (DB3MNDR). The way from the "Fort of Urrutia" to "Fort of St. Genis" may be difficult if you choose the wrong direction due to the vegetation in the area. Below you have a proposed path:
Leave the "Fort of Urrutia" and return to the nearby bridge. Don't cross it. Navigate from here to the following waypoints, CC3MNDR, CD3MNDR,CE3MNDR and finally DB3MNDR .
From here, use the final coordinate you must have calculated when you were in the "Fort of Urrutia" to find the cache.

Tips
- The area where the cache is hidden, is very exposed to wind, heat, humidity and sand. Please close the box and outer packaging properly and cover it well with the surrounding rocks, so we can prevent a rapid deterioration of the cache.
- My recommendation for this cache is to use the trail on the way to the cache and go back along the beach after you have found the cache. (Total duration: ca 1h30min / 7,1Km)
- If you are going to try to find this cache in the summer, we recommend that you bear water and sunscreen with you
- If you want to do the walk on the beach instead of the inland trail, it is recommended to do it with low tide so you can walk on the hard/wet sand
- With intensive high tides you can maybe find pools of water in the section from the "Battery Urrutia" to "Battery St. Genis"
- If you are going to access "Punta del Boquerón" by canoe from the village of Sancti Petri, you must be careful with the wind and tides, given that they can generate strong currents in this area.
