Forks Of The Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bluesprucejr: This one appears to have been muggled. We have moved away from the area and can no longer maintain it, so I guess the best thing do is to archive it.

Geocache Description:

Blue bison tube placed near the display for the historical site, hopefully in a muggle-safe spot. Right around the information kiosk was too open to feel comfortable about putting a cache there. It is not on the kiosk, but the cache is nearby.

This spot got its name because it was the intersection of Liberty Road and St. Catherine Street. It got its notoriety because before the Civil War it was the location of one of the busiest slave trading markets in the United States. The last sales took place in early 1863, shortly before the U.S. Army moved in and occupied Natchez. Their arrival enforced the Emancipation Proclamation, effectively ending the slave trade in the area. Some pieces of chain, presumably used on the slaves back then, are set in cement near the kiosk.
