Geocache Description:

A beautiful place for a stroll to enjoy the coastal air and some lovely views.

This cache has been placed on a man-made coastal barrier named the Ballast Bank.  A sign at the bottom explains about the railway and shipping industry upon which Troon was built, and the construction of this embarkment to shelter the harbour.

Parking can be found at the north end of the bank, where there is a large anchor statue.

Take the High Road
Walk along the top to find a sundial type map and for the best views.

Then the Low Road
The cache is located along the lower path.  On a nice day you will likely pass lots of muggles, and can enjoy the sight of the Isle of Arran out to sea.  In worse weather you might look out to sea and never know the island was there.

The walks are easy and popular with dog walkers, but take care in particularly rough weather as the high tide waves can splash up onto the lower stone path and make it wet and slick.

Please do not attempt to visit this Cache in strong winds due to high waves.
