Geocache Description:

The WELCOME TO ALL CACHE is located near a group of FIVE county welcome signs on Broad Street Road (Hwy 250).  Be very careful of eastbound traffic as you pull off the road to search for this cache.  This is a busy road!

Stand in one spot and look west and you will be welcomed into Fluvanna County and east you will be welcomed into Goochland County.  Five welcome markers stand near the eastbound lane of Broad Street Road (Hwy 250) about 2 miles west of Shannon Hill Road (605).
 
Fluvanna County was once a part of Henrico County and an original shire in the Virginia Colonies.  The James River is called the Fluvanna River as it flows through this county, and it gives the county its name.  Here also runs the Rivanna River, which meets the James/Fluvanna at Point of Fork.  Thomas Jefferson worked to make the Rivanna River more navigable through small dams and locks. 
 
Goochland County was named after Sir William Gooch, who served the royal lieutenant governor from 1727-1749.  In 1781, Lord Cornwallis marched through Goochland, burning barns and houses, including a small estate owned by Thomas Jefferson, Elkhill.  
 
Stroll here and read the five markers.  Of course, it's a bit of an overkill to have five markers all in one spot.  ;-) This is a small cache so bring your own pen/pencil. In honor of Thomas Jefferson and his relationship with these two counties, FTF picks up a $2 bill. ****FTF CONGRATS TO BilboB! ENJOY THAT $2 BILL! ****
