Geocache Description:

The Country Road Series
In 2011 I traveled this road for the first time. We were going from Sun Peaks to Adams Lake and I was immediately enamored by the beauty of this drive. So, I decided to do a series of caches along here. I hope you have fun finding them and enjoy the countryside. Most caches are designed to be found with a minimum of frustration and the terrain is not difficult to navigate. Watch out for kids playing, dogs running, gophers really running, farm equipment traveling at slower speeds and wildlife on or near the road and at certain times of the year there will be free range cattle on the road too. I have made sure the caches are placed near to a pull out for your vehicle. So please, pack a lunch, load up the kids, the dog, sun screen, bug spray, sun hats, slow down and enjoy The Country Road Series.

Tod Mountain Ranch
This site is a former cattle ranch dating back to the 1890's. The ranch was originally owned by the McAuliffe family and at that time was approximately 600 acres, used mostly for raising beef cattle. In the late 1930's the ranch was sold to Nelson Lougheed and he continued to raise cattle there until the late 1980's. During that time the ranch was divided into three separate parcels and sold to three new owners.

The 80 acres that is now Tod Mountain Ranch was at the centre of the original McAuliffe ranch and the owner's house is the original homestead. The current owner bought the property in 2007 from former Texas Longhorn cattle ranchers. She has realized her dream of owning a guest ranch and has graciously given permission for the cache to be placed on her property. She and her staff are enthusiastic about geocaching and she's sure many of her guests are cachers too.

Watch for bees in the hedge, BYOP and tweezers will help retrieve the log. Please only initial and do not date the log.
