Ivar Axelsson Tott var länsherre på Visborgs slott under 1400-talet. Det var Tott som såg till att slottet byggdes ut och han drygade ut kassan med sjöröveri på Östersjön. Slottet revs och sprängdes tyvärr av danskarna när de tvingades lämna ön 1679. Under de följande 30 åren användes slottsruinen för kalkbränning som bland annat användes för att bygga upp Stockholms slott.

Ivar Axelsson Tott was overlord of Gotland and ruled the island from the Castle of Visborg in the 15th century. He was also engaged in piracy and that made it possible for him to expand the castle. Unfortunately the castle was demolished by the Danes when they lost the island to Sweden in 1679. During the following 30 years the castle ruin was used for lime burning that, among other things, was used to build the Castle of Stockholm.
