This is a tricky little puzzle cache about some sounds you might come across while out in the woods.

Many people might not know that I actually have a degree in Parks and Natural Resources.
I decided I that I should place a cache with the knowledge I learned while studying for my degree.

All of the animal sounds below belong to animals that can be found in Iowa and you may have heard before but just didn't know what they were.



For this puzzle, there WILL be some tricky ones, especially figuring out if the sound is their "normal" sound or a "defense sound" they make. You will need to use the "simple" name for each animal. For example, a black footed ferret would just be a ferret. If any of the answers is a type of bird, just use the simple name for that as well. For example a red-winged blackbird would just be a blackbird.

Instructions:

Below there are hyperlinks to animal sounds. You will need either Windows Media Player or equivalent to listen to the sounds. Each sound will have a related letter that goes with it. Once you have figured out the sound, do the simple math that goes each letter.

E = 7th letter of animal minus 10

G = 3rd letter of animal minus 2
H = 5th letter of animal minus 3
