Geocache Description:

Stop at the Tower and see the crashsite. Log only. BYOP Easy P&G

On February 18th 1998 a B-1B Bomber (s/n 84-0057) from the 7TH Bomb Wing, Dyess AFB in Texas crashed into the rolling fields to the left side of the pointy headed black snake. There was a fire detected by a cockpit instrument panel and shut down all the aircrafts power. All 4 of the crew members ejected and were rescued with minor or no injuries. It was unarmed and on a training mission. It flew about 12 air miles after the crew bailed out. Approx. $283,000,000.00 went up in smoke and flames that day! If you had been at this location that day, it would have flown from your left, crossed over the fields in front of you, and then slam into the ground. Very expensive fireworks!! Today is like the day of the crash, or as the Military Police said that day... NOTHING TO SEE HEAR---MOVE ON! CONGRATS TO webfindnstuff4 FOR FTF!
