Geocache Description:

The Country Road Series
In 2011 I traveled this road for the first time, We were going from Sun Peaks to Adams Lake and I was immediately enamored by the beauty of this drive. So, I decided to do a series of caches along here. I hope you have fun finding them and enjoy the countryside. Most caches are designed to be found with a minimum of frustration and the terrain is not difficult to navigate. Watch out for kids playing, dogs running, gophers really running, farm equipment traveling at slower speeds and wildlife on or near the road. At certain times of the year there will be free range cattle on the road too. I have made sure the caches are placed near to a pull out for your vehicle. So please, pack a lunch, load up the kids, the dog, sun screen, bug spray, sun hats, slow down and enjoy The Country Road Series.

The Brady Ranch
When I approached Mrs. Brady to ask permission about placing a cache on their property she was intrigued about geocaching. After I explained what it was all about she was more than happy to give me permission to place the cache. She is a very gracious lady and invited me in for tea, how could I not accept? We got to talking....

Barry and Maureen Brady have run this ranch for five decades. Mr. Brady was born and raised in Whitecroft where his family ranched, at that time, for several generations.

In 1962 he was studying at UBC when the opportunity to lease the 2,400 acres at this site came along. He started to farm the land and raise cattle. In his spare time he loved to ski and when Tod Mountain was in its' infancy he helped put in the Burfield lift. Barry was teaching skiing at Tod Mountain the day they met. Maureen was visiting from Vancouver and enjoying a ski weekend there. It was love at first sight. But, in her words she "fell in love with the guy in the red ski jacket, not the farmer in shitty overalls". They were married in 1968 and she of course moved to the ranch. In due course three children came along. Nine grandchildren continue to grow the family tree.

They work the land on their own now. The Brady's two sons and one daughter have continued the farming life, all three owning farms in BC. Retirement is a foreign word to them, I suspect they won't willingly leave the land that has been home for 50 years.

BYOP & tweezers will help with the log.
