On the way to Grassina and Chianti, a quick stop at the church of Badiuzza.

Mentioned in 1181 under the name of Santa Maria di Fabroro, the church became also known as Santa Maria alla Badiuzza, when it was granted to Benedictine monks. The name "at Heaven" (al Paradiso) comes from the name of a nearby mansion of the Albertis, transformed in 1390 into a monastery for the monks and nuns of St. Brigitta of Sweden, which took care of the parish. From 1593 the monastery was reserved to nuns and it lasted until 1776. The present church is preceded by a porch of 1706, with a detached fresco of the Madonna and child by Piero Dandini. The church was restored in 1976.
Citata nel 1181 con il titolo di Santa Maria di Fabroro, fu poi detta Santa Maria alla Badiuzza quando venne affidata ai monaci benedettini. La denominazione "al Paradiso" deriva da quella data ad una vicina villa degli Alberti trasformata nel 1390 in monastero per i seguaci (di ambo i sessi) di Santa Brigida di Svezia, ai quali fu affidata anche la cura della parrocchia. Dal 1593 il monastero fu solo femminile e sopravvisse fino al 1776. L'attuale chiesa parrocchiale è preceduta da un portico ornato da una Madonna con Bambino, affresco staccato e danneggiato, attribuito a Piero Dandini (1707). La chiesa è stata restaurata nel 1976.
