Lt: Neįprastos formos sargo namelis (Bažnyčios g. 20) su pelėda ir šalia esantys laiptai yra vieni iš nedaugelio išlikusių Frykų dvarelio akcentų. Šie statiniai sumanyti žinomo architekto Edmundo Alfonso Fryko. 1927 m. jis gyveno su šeima mediniame name Žaliakalnyje ir, norėdamas sutrumpinti kelią iki miesto centro, pasistatė medinius laiptus. Tuo metu laiptai buvo privatūs ir ne visi jais galėjo naudotis.
Kauniečiai pasakoja, jog laiptų apačioje architektas ketino įkurti turgelį, kuriame būtų prekiaujama jo sode ir darže užaugintomis daržovėmis bei prancūziškomis kriaušėmis. Sargo namelyje būtų galėjusi apsigyventi pardavėja, kuri visada būtų savo darbo vietoje.
Sovietmečiu mediniai laiptai buvo pakeisti betoniniais, gerokai statesniais ir be seniau buvusių poilsio aikštelių. Šiandien šiais laiptais daugiausiai naudojasi Žaliakalnyje gyvenantys kauniečiai, kasdien einantys į darbus.
En: The unconventionally shaped Keeper’s House (Bažnyčios St. 20) with a sculpture of an owl and the neighboring stairway are some of the few elements remaining from the times of the Frykai Manor. These structures were designed by the famous Architect Edmundas Alfonsas Frykas. In 1927, he and his family resided in a small wooden house in Žaliakalnis. The Architect built the wooden stairs to create a shortcut to the center of the town. At that time the stairway was private property, and its use was a privilege which could not be accessed by everyone.
The townspeople of Kaunas City narrate the story how the Architect wished to establish a market at the bottom of the stairway. The market would offer fresh vegetables and French pears grown in the Architect’s garden. The Keeper’s House was the intended place of residence for the saleslady who could always be at her workplace.
During the Soviet times, the wooden stairway was replaced with a concrete one which was much steeper and had no rest areas as before. Today these stairs are mostly used by the residents of the Kaunas District of Žaliakalnis on their daily route to and back from work.
Lt: Slėptuvė yra maža plastikinė dėžutė, kurios viduje įdėta knygelė, pieštukas ir drožtukas. Keliaujantys daikčiukai yra labai laukiami.
