Geocache Description:

NOTE: THE PATH TO THIS CACHE HAS BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF MUCH TREE FELLING AND FALLING. THE TERRAIN IS PROBABLY MORE OF A 2.5 - 3.

I am not changing the official ratings yet because, it is my great hope that the path will be cleaned up eventually. In the meantime, please be aware that the terrain you actually encounter may be higher than the rating above.

You don't need a quarter to make this cache stimulate you all day long.

In the days before Hybrid autos and motor scooters, America’s highways and byways were dotted with mom and pop motels. There were no Super 8's or Holiday Inns. Travelers slept soundly in mildew scented, aged wood and stone constructs along Route 66, Highway 50, and other two lane highways. As modern freeways were built and routed to avoid the small towns that held these refuges, new and exciting means of attracting customers had to be found. Soon, pay-per-view movies and vibrating beds made their ways into the American experience.

Find this cache, open it, and breathe deep the scent of America past. Use *your* magic fingers to pluck a treasure from within this camo cache, pocket it, and go upon your way. Perhaps, in your travels, you will come upon a vestige of older times, another Bates Motel, and decide to take your rest therein. You may find that your overnight bed has a box at it's side, one which accepts quarters, and will give you fifteen minutes of vibrating bliss.

Instructions to find the final:

To find this cache, go to the posted coordinates. You will be at a monument to Thomas H. Swope. To be honest, the view and location is the real cache but, if that isn't enough and you want to find a little treasure, you will have to do a little simple math and follow directions closely. You may want to print out this page and bring it with you.

1) Look at the monument and find the age that is listed. Subtract this number from the last 3 digits of the north coordinates. The answer will be the north coodinates for the final cache.

2) Look at the date listed on the monument.
A = The month + the day.
B = The first two digits of the year + the second two digits of the year.
C = The sum of the individual digits of the date. M+M+D+D+Y+Y+Y+Y
A+B+C=D
Add D to the last three digits of the original west coordinates and this will become your new west coordinates.

*Note, in both step one and step two, your grand totals will be 3-digit numbers. You will simply use these instead of the original last-three-digits. The first and second parts of the coords will stay the same.

Special Notes

PLEASE, take your time after finding the cache to replace the camo and hide it well. Last time I had a cache out here, it got muggled about every 3 months because it wasn't properly concealed by finders. It just takes a moment. Please help me out with this.
~ Cache is NOT wheel chair accessible.
~ Cache is NOT available at night. It is only available from sunrise to sunset. In the winter, when there is snow on the ground, the gates may only be open from 9am-3pm.
~ It should only take 30-45 mins to complete (if that).
~ FYI, for those who have any interest in letterboxing, I stumbled upon one while placing this cache. Go to letterboxing.org to track it down. I did not place the LB and am not trying to advertise them, I just found it interesting and thought I would share the info with you. It is not a letterbox hybrid, just a regular one.
