The nearby banking establishment got robbed back in the late 90's by a trio of teenagers, with one of them discharging a shotgun inside the bank. They earlier set a fire at the north end of town as a diversion, that later caused an evacuation of approxamitly 1500 people from their homes because of dangerous fumes. Two made their escape on an ATV and luckily one was apprehended quickly a short distance out of Aylmer and all of the cash was recovered. The second was picked up at his residence. The third had played as their hostage, but the other two, quickly gave him up, as he had been the mastermind behind the whole caper.
