Début du XVIème siècle, l’artillerie se perfectionne. Pour y répondre, des forteresses d’un nouveau type remplacent les traditionnelles murailles et châteaux forts.
A Namur, le vieux Château Comtal est renforcé. Les défenses s’agrandissent vers l’ouest. Entre 1542 et 1545 Médiane est construite, sous la forme de deux bastions renfermant des casemates à canon dans leurs flancs.
Cette cache vous fera parcourir le fossé séparant Médiane de Terra-Nova. En vous rendant vers la cache, vous découvrirez
- Au bas du mur de Terra Nova, la structure extérieure d’une caponnière faisant partie du grand souterrain de communication entre Terra Nova et Médiane
- L’ancien magasin à poudre (1855-6).
- Le pont fixe de 1870 qui remplace un ancien pont de bois démontable
- Les meurtrières sur deux niveaux aux bastions de Médiane de part et d’autre de la poudrière, à l’avant, bastion Sambre à l’arrière, Bastion Meuse ou Batterie Royale.
- Sur les talus, les cheminées en béton pour l’aération des installations des installations de commandement de la ceinture des Forts de Namur.

Begin van de zestiende eeuw, werd artillerie geperfectioneerd. In reactie daarop heeft forten van een nieuw type de traditionele muren en kastelen vervangen.
In Namen, werd het oude kasteel van de Graven versterkt. De verdedigingen werden naar het westen uitgebreid. Tussen 1542 en 1545 werd “Mediane” in de vorm van twee bastions met kazematten aan de zijden gebouwd.
Op de weg naar de cache zal u de volgende elementen ontdekken
- Aan de onderkant van de muur van Terra Nova, een kaponier van de grote tunnel tussen Terra-Nova en Mediane.
- De oude kruitmagazijn (1856).
- De vaste brug van 1870, die een oude afbreekbaar houten brug vervangt
- De dodelijkste aan beide zijden van de bastions van Mediane.
- Op de hellingen, betonnen schoorstenen, gebruikt voor de ventilatie van de central command post (1934-1939) van de “Forts de Namur”

In the begin of the sixteenth century, artillery was perfected. As response, fortresses of a new type replaced the traditional walls and castles.
In Namur, the old Castle of the Counts was reinforced. The defenses expanded westward. Between 1542 and 1545 is “Mediane” constructed in the form of two bastions containing gun casemates on his sides.
This cache will take you through the ditch between Mediane and Terra Nova. You will notice
- At the bottom of the wall of Terra Nova, the external structure of a large caponier, part of the underground communication between Terra Nova and median
- The old powder magazine (1856).
- The fixed bridge of 1870 which replaces an old wooden bridge.
- The deadliest on each of the bastions.
- On the slopes, concrete chimneys serving as ventilation facilities for the Central Command Post and Telephone (1934-39), of the belt of forts de Namur.
