Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden near a viewpoint for the Upper Bonnington Dam.



About 20 paces along the old road from the car you'll see a small trail lead off to the left. The first few feet are a bit steep and rocky.

It's possible to avoid that spot by walking to the end of the old road then doubling back on a higher road. You'll end up in the same spot. They are short roads.

Follow the trail through the forest until you reach an open area. There's a faint trail leading left towards open sky. Another trail leads right through trees following what apears to be an old road. Keep right and follow your GPS right to the cache. The ideal viewing spot is off to the right.

Viewing is best when the river is high. Usually that's mid-April to the end of June. Currently (June 7th) the Kootenay River is at it's maximum flow. The views of whitewater pouring over the horseshoe shaped dam are stunning!
