Ian Roberts Memorial Gun Range

Ian Wayne Roberts
1985-2009
Born April 5, 1985 in Lindsay, Ian died at his home in Bishop on Aug. 8, 2009. He was 24.
Ian was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed every moment he had with his daughters, teaching them the things he loved, Ian was an avid gun collector and hunter. He spent many weekends trap shooting with his grandfather Tad.
Before moving to Bishop with his wife and daughters in 2006, he was a decorated firefighter for the June Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He was an engineer, receiving both Rookie of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.
Ian touched the lives of so many. He will be very missed. His family was the most important thing to him.
Back in the '50's and '60's we used to camp and fish along Rush Creek. We would take our .22's across the road to the "dump" to plink tin cans and "hunt" rats. Well, there hasn't been camping along Rush Creek since the '70's and the "dump" is long gone. Our rat hunting days are well over but we're still the darnest plinkers ever! Now-a-days we enjoy staying at the Oh! Ridge Campground, fishing, geocaching and taking our kids for some safe and fun target practice here at the public shooting range. There used to be another geocache here a few years ago, but it has since been archived. We've hidden this new, log only, cache in a well camouflaged container which should elude muggles but not savvy geocachers like yourselves. The dirt roads leading to here are two wheel drive comfortable and the younger kids will enjoy the adventure of "off-roading."
