Ortega Grapes
The Ortega grape was developed in Bavaria in the 1970's. It has become a very popular grape in the UK, Okanagan and also a staple to wineries the Cowichan Valley. Ortega grapes produce high acidity wines which are very full flavoured. Many wines created using this grape use words like 'elegant peach or apricot' in the descriptions of their aroma and exotic fruit flavours. Because it's spicy and well balanced it is popular with gourmet Asian food which is also abundant on Canada's west coast.
