Kažun is a small field hut that provided shelter, built using the dry wall technique - stone laid up without mortar. Apart from offering shelter it was also used for checking fields and vineyards before the harvest. Such huts are mostly found in the southern and western parts of Istria and are surely the most popular Istrian symbol.
