Risk & Safety Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

toxknits: I'm sorry to do this, but someone clearly knows where this cache is and seems bent on destroying/displacing it. I've learned a lot about cache placement over the last year so hopefully I can come up with something better later, but for now I'm going to put this one to rest. Repeated searches for the cache container have come up empty so I don't even know where it is (if you find it, please let me know!). Apologies to anyone who solved the puzzle but hasn't found the cache yet. Thanks to everyone who alerted me when the cache was muggled and helped put it back in place.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but it is nearby. You must solve the puzzle to find the final coordinates of the cache, a small camouflaged screw-top container.

Due to recent mugglings, I've upgraded the camo. Please be sure to put the cache back where you found it as there are a lot of kids and transients who like to hang out at the park.

This puzzle cache is based on R-phrases (risk phrases) and S-phrases (safety phrases), which are numbered codes used to indicate hazards and safety precautions for chemicals. These phrases are often included on the safety information or labels on chemical containers to alert users to special hazards which may not be fully explained by other hazard labelling systems.

To find this cache, you will have to match the text of the R- or S-phrase with its numbered code, and insert these numbers into the coordinates as indicated. R- and S-phrases are standardized and there are a number of online resources which list the codes (see the hint if you are stuck). R-phrases are used for the northing coordinates and S-phrases are used for the westing coordinates.

The cache itself is a camoed screw-top 50mL container, and contains a log, a pencil, and a few small items. It should not be difficult to find, but it is in an Oliver park, so please watch out for muggles, including those whose balconies overlook the park! I’ve also seen transients in the park, so please be discreet when searching. It should also be noted that the park is NOT open 24 hours – it is open from 5AM to 11PM. Bring your kids – there is a playground and a spraypark here! Due to its location, it may be difficult to find during the winter, especially if there is a lot of snow accumulation!

The Northing:

Find the number for each R-phrase listed below, then fit those numbers into the following string (do not include the “R” that precedes each code; just use the number(s)): N AB° CD.EFG

RAB: May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment
RCD: Contact with acids liberates very toxic gas
REF: Possible risk of harm to the unborn child
RG: May cause fire

The Westing:

Find the number for each S-phrase listed below, then fit those numbers into the following string (do not include the “S” that precedes each code; just use the number(s)): W HJK° LM.NPQ

SH: Keep locked up
SJK: Keep away from food, drink and animal foodstuffs (note from toxknits: sometimes this is written “feedingstuffs”)
SL: Keep in a cool place
SM: Keep locked up
SNP: Keep contents wet
SQ: Keep under ... (inert gas to be specified by the manufacturer)

Note: The cache itself is labelled "R&S" since I didn't want to put the words "risk" or "safety" on a container just in case a muggle found it! That's it! Good luck! Congrats to Licwid for the FTF!
