Geocache Description:

A film canister with a toonie for the FTF. BYOP. Please return canister exactly as you found it. What ever you do, don't drop it!!!!! Then you will really have to do some bushwhacking. Be mindful of the traffic as this can be a very busy street at times.

Back in the sixties this bridge was an old beat-up rickety iron frame with wooden planks. The Town of Aylmer and the Township of Malahide had been arguing for years about who should replace it, as at that time the creek was the boundary line. Both were saying it was the others responsibility. On Halloween in 1966 or 1967 a group of teenagers soaked the wooden planks with oil and gasoline and lit it up. Meanwhile another group of older teens lit up a derelict car further east in the ditch, that is in Malahide, that is now the front of the old age home. The resulting flames lit up the sky at the east end of Aylmer and when the fire trucks started to roll, it drew all the kids from downtown to have a look. Needless to say the bridge was replaced with what you see here today.
